Re: Suggestions
I'll start the ball rolling....I think everyone has heard my views on a Sth Australian Muster........
On a positive note:
South of Adelaide is brilliant riding country, Bull Creek -10k of 45-50advisory corners, Delamere run about 30k of $1.00 - $2.00 sweepers(I only spend about $1.50)
Lots of small towns, coffee shops and pubs
Accommodation should be no worries
Barossa Valley has more of the same, but a few more coppers.
Clare valley also has some nice rides, we could trash Mick's place if we get up that far.
The area is fairly small, so we could sleep in one place, and ride out to almost any destination and back in one day.
Roads are generally good, patches of gravel occassionally from concealed drive-ways. (there is generally a warning sign)
Downside is that distances between towns is short, so a lot of 60-80k speed limits.
To get a 300k ride without back-tracking might be difficult.
Getting here:
From Melbourne, Great Ocean Road - anyone who has done it will tell you how good it is......I would track inland after Heywood or Mount Gambier, the Coorong road sucks.
From Sydney and further North - there's no easy way, probably put your head down and come across the hay plain, or albury and the murray valley highway. From Mildura you can cut across thru Loxton and come thru the hills to the southern side of adelaide. The last 70k is freeway.
All up, I would suggest 2days to get here, book out a small pub somewhere for three nights, and another two to get home. If we get some interest, I will invite a couple of mates to join here, they ride in the barossa a lot, and can help plan routes etc. We've got a pretty big house for any early starters or late stayers

Re: Suggestions
I can't believe that no-one else knows a good place to have a Muster. But, I'll soldier on.
North Queensland:
Just under 2000k North of Brisbane. Lots of country pubs to stay at.
The Atherton Tableland has lots of twisties. Top of these would be the Gillies Highway, which climbs from the coast at gordonvale(10k from Cairns) up to Atherton. There is a great little pub at the base of this mountain. From Atherton, take the back way to Ravenshoe, along Queensland's highest road. From Ravenshoe to Millaa Millaa and the Palmerston Highway(back down the mountains). From here, decide whether to go back to cairns (80k on highway), or chuck a u-turn and back up the mountain
A ride from cairns north winds along some scenic coast-line, heaps of 30-50k corners, and places to stop and sample local food and drink. Turn left onto the REX range road, and climb the hills to Mareeba. After lunch, head to Kuranda for a look, and then down the mountain and into cairns.
If you venture further south, a ride up the Tully Gorge is worthwhile, but there is only one way in and out, so Mr Plod may be waiting for you.
Weather is best in September and October, with april and May coming close. There is always a chance of rain. If we stayed on the table-land, the weather is cooler, and would extend those dates a little.
There are at least two buellers living in the area, they could provide better info and plan routes. Anyone riding up should plan to stop in Townsville, there is a guy there with a keg in his fridge!!!!!

Re: Suggestions
TASMANIA
'nuff said............
We already have most of the maps. Lazza has ideas on a couple of extra rides. All that would need to be decided is whether we stay in one place, or move around like last time.
and.....I need to ride those rides, looking at them thru the windscreen of a car doesn't cut it.
OK, that's it from me. These are the only areas I know reasonably well. Surely some-one else lives near a windy road???
